Sound It Out Ufli Bundle
- Can I purchase the components separately? Currently it is is available as a complete kit only. The Techer’s Manual is a key part of the pack as it includes detailed instructions and information on the phonemes, articulatory gestures, and spellings.
- Is this a resource to use alongside UFLI? UFLI incorporates the teaching of articulatory gestures but you can use the cards from Sound it Out also.
- Is it a physical resource only? Yes
- Is it suitable for senior classes? It is designed for junior classed (and SET). There’s no need for such a focus on phonology in senior classes.
- Does each child need a pupil book? No, it’s an optional extra for home-school links. One copy is provided in the kit but you can order a set of your class separately if you wish. They are not workbooks, so can be reused.
- Does it come with online resources? Digital resources are in development!
- Why is the Vowel Valley arranged this way? The ‘V’ shape represents the placement of the jaw and tongue as each sound is pronounced. Sounds that are beside each other in the “V” have very slight differences between them, eg. /o/ and /aw/
- How do I use Sound it Out with a mixed junior/senior class? Have all the sounds displayed and add each grapheme/spelling underneath as you teach them. There will be spelling that your junior infants haven’t been taught yet, but that’s ok.
